The Synnove-Nordkap exhibit, “New Land, New Life: Norwegian Immigration to Minnesota, 1825 to 1925” will be on display at the Washington County Historic Courthouse in Stillwater, MN, for one month!
The Historic Courthouse is the “longest standing courthouse in the state of Minnesota”. It served as the County seat for over 100 years. Now a County Park, the Courthouse offers guided (Wednesday – Sunday) and self-guided tours (daily), hosts public events, and private events. It features the historic jail, an 1870’s courtroom, and various exhibits relating to the County’s history. It is a beautiful facility and located in scenic Stillwater!
Our exhibit is a wonderful complement to the Historic Courthouse, especially this year as we celebrate the Bicentennial of the First Norwegian Immigrants to arrive in America! The immigrant ship “Restauration” set sail on July 4, 1825 and arrived in New York in October, 1825. Come celebrate as we share our exhibit with visitors to the Historic Courthouse. We hope you will have an opportunity to visit the Courthouse and our New Land, New Life Exhibit. Be sure to invite others to do the same…and bring a friend!
The exhibit will open March 4th and close on April 3, 2025. The Courthouse is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
